Thomas Jr. is in his second year as a Runnin' Rebel ... Five-star recruit and son of UNLV legend Dedan Thomas Sr., decided to reclass to become a freshman in 2023-24 ... Was named Mountain West Preseason Freshman of the Year in October of 2023 ... Following the 2023-24 season he was named MW Co-Freshman of the Year ... Set the MW freshman seasonal assist record with 174 ... Recognized as a member of the 2024-25 Preseason All-MW Team in October of 2024.

FRESHMAN (2023-24)
Led the team in scoring with 464 points (13.6 ppg), assists with 174 (5.2 apg) and 3-point field-goal percentage (.362) ... Started all 34 of UNLV's games ... Earned  MW Co-Freshman of the Year honors and Second-Team All-MW ... His 174 assists set the MW record for most assists in a season by a freshman and led the NCAA in assists among freshmen ... Ranked 39th in the country in assists among all NCAA Division I players ... He was the only freshman to rank in the top 50 ... Also was first in the country in minutes played among freshmen (34:53 mpg) and had the fourth-best assist/turnover ratio among freshmen (2.32) ... Finished the season 16th in the MW in scoring, sixth in assists, 10th in free-throw percentage (.743), eighth in assist/turnover ratio and sixth in minutes played ... Scored a career-high in points with 29 against San Diego State in the MW Tournament ... Had a career-high 11 assists vs. Utah State ... Scored in double figures on 25 occasions, including 20 or more points five times ... Had five or more assists in a game 20 times ... HIGH SCHOOL
A 2023 graduate of Liberty High School in Henderson, Nevada ... Was ranked as the 22nd-best prospect in the class of 2024 by 247 Sports and was one of the best prep point guards in the nation ... Averaged 22.8 points and 5.1 assists per game as a junior during the 2022-23 season at Liberty, leading the Patriots to the state championship final for a second straight year ... Was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Nevada ... As a sophomore in 2021-22, he led his school to the 5A state championship, averaging 13.3 points per game that season ... Chose UNLV over Arizona, Florida, Gonzaga, Houston and UCLA.

PERSONAL
Was born in Las Vegas ... The son of Dedan and Tina ... Has three younger siblings (brothers Tyus and Kaemon and sister Brooke) and an older brother (Keenan) ... Majoring in psychology ... His father played for UNLV from 1991-94, earning honorable mention All-America honors and has his name throughout the UNLV record books ... In his free time, Thomas Jr. enjoys playing chess and video games ... After his basketball playing career, his career goal is to become a basketball coach.
