Men's Soccer Loses To Vanderbilt

Oct. 1, 1999

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The UNLV men's soccer team dropped its second straight road game this season, falling to Vanderbilt, 2-1, in an overtime heartbreaker.

Down 1-0 through most of the match, the Rebels' Geoff Barto bent a free kick around a Vanderbilt wall with just two minutes left in regulation to knot the match at 1-1 and send it into overtime.

The Commodores needed only nine minutes in the extra frame to net the winning goal. Chris Yingling dropped a rainbow shot in over the Rebels' for the game winner.

The match was the first overtime contest for UNLV this season. Now 5-5, the Rebels will complete their road swing through the East on Sunday in a 11:00 a.m. PDT match at Western Kentucky.
