LAS VEGAS - UNLV tailback Jeremi Rudolph, has been named one of the nation's Top 10 Transfers in college football by Sports Illustrated in this week's issue.
Rudolph, a junior who came to UNLV after playing two years at Southwest Mississippi Community College, currently leads the Rebels with 524 yards rushing.
He earned the SI spot despite, as the magazine explains, missing most of the last two games because of a groin injury suffered Oct. 23 vs. BYU.
The 5-foot-9, 175-pound runner from Apopka, Fla., originally signed with Florida State out of high school after a record-setting prep career. After failing to enroll at FSU, Rudolph spent two years playing professional baseball in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. After his two years in Mississippi, he became UNLV's first recruit under head coach John Robinson.
Rudolph, the preseason Newcomer of the Year for the Mountain West Conference, won offensive player of the week honors after a season-high 149 yards rushing vs. Wyoming on October 9.
