Final Stats

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Jay Stoner passed for 357 yards and one touchdown, but Wyoming needed an 18-yard field goal by Aaron Elling in overtime for a 28-25 victory over winless UNLV on Saturday.

Marques Brigham rushed for 144 yards on 33 carries and scored twice, and Wendell Montgomery had 10 receptions for 158 yards as the Cowboys (5-1, 3-0 Western Athletic Conference) won their fourth straight game since a 16-9 loss to Georgia.

The Rebels (0-7, 0-4) tied the game 25-all on a 37-yard field goal by Tim O'Reilly with 7:22 remaining.

The Cowboys had a chance to win the game in regulation, but Elling missed a 33-yard field goal with six seconds to go in the fourth quarter.

UNLV had the ball first in overtime, and James Wofford appeared to be heading into the end zone for a go-ahead touchdown when he fumbled, and Wyoming's Adrian Hill recovered.

Starting at UNLV's 25, Wyoming moved to the 1 on five runs by Brigham before Elling kicked his game-winner.

Brigham's 1-yard touchdown run in the opening four minutes gave Wyoming a 7-0 lead, but Wofford scored on a 2-yard run less than four minutes later.

O'Reilly kicked a 22-yard field goal early in the second quarter to put UNLV ahead 10-7, and the Rebels extended the advantage to nine points on a 3-yard pass from Chad Reed to Sam Mineo early in the third period.

Wyoming bounced back for a 17-16 lead before the end of the third quarter on a 14-yard touchdown run by Brigham and 21-yard field goal by Elling. UNLV went back on top 22-17 on a 4-yard scoring pass from Reed to Mike Leatham with 9:50 left in the fourth quarter, but Stoner threw a 74-yard scoring pass to Julian Hooker on the next scrimmage play and a 2-point conversion pass to Montgomery to give the Cowboys a three-point lead.

Wofford finished with 184 yards on 28 carries, and Reed completed 12-of-27 passes for 126 yards.
