Men's Tennis Edged by Tennessee

LAS VEGAS - The 43rd-ranked UNLV men's tennis team lost the decisive doubles point and fell to No. 15 Tennessee 4-3 amongst high winds at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Monday.

The Rebels dropped to 5-5 while the Volunteers improved to 10-5.

UNLV began the day by being swept in doubles to lose one point. The two teams then split singles play. At the top spot, the Rebels' 72nd-ranked Asaf Tishler (12-5) won his eighth consecutive match, 6-1, 6-0, over 76th-ranked Mark Parsons.

Also winning for UNLV in straight sets were Danny Erez at the fourth position and Gregor Skorin at the fifth spot.

The overall match was clinched at the second position when UT's 12th-ranked Peter Handoyo won a second-set tie-breaker to defeat Nenad Zivkovic 6-2, 7-6 (5).

The Rebels host No. 35 Purdue Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
