Men's Tennis Falls to Pepperdine

MALIBU, Calif. - For the second day in a row the UNLV men's tennis team took on a West Coast power and for the second day in a row the result was a 6-1 defeat.

After falling at No. 15 USC Friday, the 42nd-ranked Rebels (0-2) traveled up the road to Malibu on Saturday and fell to No. 8 Pepperdine (1-1).

The Waves began the day by sweeping doubles for one team point and then took five of six singles matches.

At the top position, Pepperdine's 21st-ranked Kelly Gullett defeated No. 34 Asaf Tishler in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Winning for UNLV in the fourth spot was freshman Adreas Madersbacher, who survived a marathon match, 6-4, 6-7, 7-6, for his first collegiate victory.

UNLV is off until opening its home schedule with an eight-team invitational Feb. 12-14 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
