March 8, 1999

Damu Bobb won a third-set tiebreaker to lift the 42nd-ranked UNLV men's tennis team to a 4-3 victory over Southern Mississippi and a split on the second day of the annual HEB Team Invitational Saturday.

The Rebels began the match by sweeping doubles for one team point. Needing just a split in singles play, UNLV got wins from Asaf Tishler and Andy Madersbacher before Bobb came back with a 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 win over Felix Hutt at the third position.

UNLV improved to 4-4 on the year. The Rebels lost earlier in the day, 4-1, to Minnesota.

The three-day event wraps up with one match Sunday.
