FRESNO, Calif. - UNLV failed to score a point vs. host Fresno State and was eliminated from the NCAA Men's Tennis Regional at the Wathen Tennis Center Saturday.
The 43rd-ranked Rebels finished the season at 12-10 and 6-4 in the WAC while the 25th-ranked Bulldogs improved to 19-8 and 7-1.
FSU began the day by taking two doubles matches for one team point. The Bulldogs then quickly won three singles matches to clinch the victory. Peter Luczak downed Asaf Tishler 6-1, 6-2 at the top spot; Olivier Le Jeune defeated Nenad Zivkovic 6-1, 6-4 at the second position; and Nick Fustar swept Andy Madersbacher 6-3, 7-5 in the sixth spot. The remaining three matches were halted.
FSU moves on to play in Sunday's final for the right to advance to the NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga. Three Rebels will advance to individual competition in Athens on May 26-29. Tishler will play in singles while Zivkovic and Gregor Skorin will take part in the doubles event.
