Mississippi State Defeats Women's Tennis

ATHENS, Ga. - The UNLV women's tennis team lost its 11th consecutive match, 5-3, to 39th-ranked Mississippi State on the campus of the University of Georgia Sunday.

The Lady Rebels fell to 3-11 while the Lady Bulldogs improved to 7-5.

MSU won five of six singles matches. UNLV's lone win came at the sixth spot where Marcella Valkenhoff downed Leanne Wills 6-0, 6-2.

UNLV did take both completed doubles matches. Marianne Bakken teamed with Veronica Goude to win 8-4 over Amelie Detriviere and Anca Vasiloaica at the second position while Britta Gabl and Urska Radanovic won 8-5 over Linda Mattsson and Andrea Lord at the third spot. The top doubles match was not played.

The Lady Rebels continue their spring break swing with a match at No. 3 Georgia on Tuesday.
