Stanford Defeats UNLV Women's Tennis

LAS VEGAS - The fifth-ranked Stanford women's tennis team swept singles play en route to a 7-1 victory over UNLV at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Thursday.

The Lady Rebels have now lost 10 straight after a 3-0 start while the Cardinal, who were making their first-ever appearance in Las Vegas, improved to 15-2.

Stanford did not lose a set in taking all six singles points. UNLV got its only score with a win at the second doubles position where Veronica Goude teamed with Marianne Bakken to down Lauren Kalvaria and Sarah Pestieau 8-2. The third doubles match was not played.

The Lady Rebels next head out for a spring break trip beginning with a match vs. 39th-ranked Mississippi State in Athens, Ga., on March 28.
