UNLV Track and Field Travels to WAC Outdoor Championships

The Rebel Track and Field team will be at the Western Athletic Conference Championship starting May 22 at Rice University in Houston, Texas. Preliminaries for the majority of the track and field events take place Friday with the finals concluding Saturday. The meet runs from May 20-23 with the first two days dedicated to the decathlon and heptathlon events.

Two Rebels have already made provisional cuts for the NCAA Outdoor Championships and will look to earn an automatic trip to Buffalo, N.Y., June 3-6. All-American Hydianne Harper, the Rebels' leading sprinter and Jessica Marable, the Rebels' top hurler, will highlight the meet for UNLV. Harper is a provisional qualifier in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.49, which i s second best in the conference. She is just off a provisional time (11.55) in the 100-meter dash. Her best time came at the Long Beach Invitational where she ran a time of 11.58 on April 18. Ayana Hutchinson is also on the brink of soft cuts for nationals with her time of 11.63 in the 100 and 23.75 in the 200.

Jessica Marable, who has already broken UNLV records in both the indoor and outdoor seasons in the shot put, will look to better her NCAA provisional qualifying throw of 50-10.75 that she accomplished at UC Irvine on May 9.
