LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field team will compete in its third outdoor meet of the season this upcoming weekend, traveling to UCLA for two days of competition on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28.
The Bruins have split the weekend to two different home meets, Friday being labeled as the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival and Saturday being marked as the Jim Bush Legends Meet. The first day is set to start at 4:15 pm while the second day kicks off at a little after 11:30 am.
The first day of competition, the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival, will hold two field events and four more on the track. Amaya Mitchell-Howard and Lauryn Williams will get things underway in the hammer throw at 4:15 pm, while a handful of distance runners will compete in the first track event in the 1500m (ELITE) at 6 pm. The 5000m will also see a quartet of runners scheduled to run at 7:30 pm.
The Jim Bush Legends schedule will start with several field events before the track races commence, the women's high jump, discus, shot put, long jump and triple jump all starting before 3 pm. The day will hold two relays as the first and final events of the meet, the former being the 4x100m relay at 1:05 pm and the latter being the 4x400m relay at 4:45 pm. Student-athletes not in the 1500m ELITE the day prior will compete in the main event's session on Saturday at 4:15 pm, other track events taking place that day are the 100m hurdles (1:35 pm), 400m (2 pm), 100m (2:25 pm), 800m (2:50 pm), 400m hurdles (3:25 pm) and 200m (3:50 pm).Â
REBEL NOTES:
- Rebels in the 100m Saturday will be Gabriella Caldwell, Gabby Goodgames, KayVeonna Jackson, Victoria Perrow, Mikah Scott, Aly Winston and Jaci Wright.
- Rebels in the 100m hurdles Saturday will be T'Erica Boyd, Goodgames and Wright.
- Goodgames will also compete in the long jump Saturday.
- Roxene Simpson will compete in the discus.
- Overall, UNLV has 19 student-athletes ranked a total of 25 times in the top 10 of Mountain West events.
- Victoria Perrow, Kaitlyn Webbe, Taryn Bailey and Roxene Simpson lead the Mountain West in the 200m, 400m, 800m and discus throw, respectively.
- Kaelin Gowdy, Jaci Wright and Kayli Middleton sit second in the 400m, 100m hurdles and triple jump, respectively.
- Juliana Roberson is third in the triple jump.
- Aly Winston ranks fifth in the 100m and eighth in the 200m.
