Women's Tennis Falls for First Time at Home

LAS VEGAS - The 31st-ranked UNLV women's tennis team lost for the first time at home this season, 5-4, to 52nd-ranked Washington State Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Lady Rebels, who were 3-0 in Las Vegas this season, fell to 3-3 while the Cougars improved to 2-3 overall. It was WSU's first victory over UNLV in seven career meetings.

The two teams split the six singles matches as well as the first two doubles points. The overall match was decided in the third doubles position where the Cougar duo of Tamara Filipovic and Helen Frankland defeated Veronica Goude and Urska Radanovic 8-4.

Winning in singles for UNLV were Susie Kocsis, Goude and Marianne Bakken. Kocsis also teamed with Marcella Valkenhoff at the second doubles spot for the team's final point.

The Lady Rebels host 63rd-ranked Tulsa Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
