LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The 62nd-ranked UNLV women's tennis team eased by San Jose State, 4-0, Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
 
The Rebels improved to 15-3 overall and sustained a tie for first place in the Mountain West with an 8-1 mark. The Spartans fell to 7-12 and 0-9.
 
In doubles play, the Rebels got two quick wins to take the point. Kaho Oyama and Sofiia Sokolvak downed Camile Celis and Katarina Brajovic, 6-1, at No. 3 and Veronika Kliuch and Eszter Kis-Czako defeated Duru Durgun and Tara Mihaljevic, 6-2, on court two.
 
In singles, it was the middle of the lineup that propelled the hosts to an overall victory in just over 100 minutes. Hudson Hawkins was off first, downing Soledad Capilla, 6-2, 6-1, at the third position; Oyama was done next, 6-3, 6-0 over Celis at No. 5; and freshman Kis-Czako finished off Mihaljevic, 6-2, 6-2, on court four.
 
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Eszter Kis-Czako teamed up for a win in doubles and then improved her rookie record to 17-8 in singles.
 
UP NEXT: UNLV plays its final road match on Monday at Fresno State starting with doubles play at 11 am.
