LAS VEGAS - The 31st-ranked UNLV women's tennis team opened its 1999 season by defeating unranked New Mexico State 8-1 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Friday.
The Lady Rebels took five of six singles matches and then swept doubles play.
Winning for UNLV were Susie Kocsis, Veronica Goude, Marianne Bakken, Britta Gabl and Marcella Valkenhoff.
Kocsis then teamed with Valkenhoff to win the No. 1 doubles spot, Goude and Ursa Radanovic won at the second slot and Bakken and Gabl won at No. 3.
UNLV will next host Nevada, Reno at 10 a.m. Saturday.
