Women's Tennis Suffers First Defeat

TUCSON, Ariz. - The 31st-ranked UNLV women's tennis team could manage only one singles victory in falling to No. 24 Arizona 8-1 at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center Saturday.

The Lady Rebels fell to 3-1 after their first road action of the spring while the Wildcats improved to 4-3 overall.

Katarina Malec was UNLV's only bright spot, posting a three-set victory over Monique Allegre, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, at the second position.

Arizona earned three of its eight team points by sweeping the doubles matches.

The short road-trip continues for the Lady Rebels Sunday when they face who No. 12 Arizona State in Tempe.
