Women's Track Competes at Silver State Invitational

Reno, Nev. - The UNLV women's indoor track and field team competed in its second track meet of the season when it traveled to the University of Nevada, Reno for the Silver State Invitational Saturday.

Leading the way for the Rebels was Angie Forter. Fortner placed second in the mile run with a time of 4:58.28. Senior Denise Danielson finished ninth with a time of 5:24.89 and Katie Barto turned in a time of 5:26.29 to finish 10th.

The Rebels had a good showing in the 400-meter dash with Michelle Davis taking sixth (57.07) and Eulista Clemons taking 11th (59.23). Sharlene Downing took sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:21.22.

Heather Steadham and Laren Parker finished sixth and seventh respectively in the long jump. Steadham turned in a jump of 18'01.75", improving on last week's jump of 17'05.50". Parker posted a jump of 17'11.75".

The Rebels will return to Reno next week to compete in the Wolf Pack Invitational.
