Berry Named WAC Golfer of the Week

LAS VEGAS - UNLV senior Chris Berry was named the Western Athletic Conference Men's Golf Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Berry recorded the first individual title of his career as he took home medalist honors at the U.S. Collegiate Golf Championships in Lecanto, Fla., after a one-hole playoff on Sunday.

With his 70-68-70-208, Berry led the third-ranked Rebels to their fourth team title of the year. He holds a stroke average of 73.74 per round on the season and has turned in four top-20 finishes, one top-10 finish and one top-five finish. He has also tallied eight rounds par or under in 23 total rounds played this year.

The Rebel golf team will be back in action on April 9-10 as it competes in the Bellsouth Yellow Pages Intercollegiate at MacGregor Downs in Cary, N.C.
