LAS VEGAS - The UNLV golf team finished the 1997-98 season as the nations top-ranked team in the final edition of the national MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings released by the College Golf Foundation Wednesday.
The Rebels, who won their first national championship last weekend, won a record seven tournaments this year. UNLV finished 112 points ahead of Clemson in the rankings. Georgia Tech finished third, Oklahoma State finished fourth and Houston was fifth.
Individually, UNLVs Jeremy Anderson finished the year ranked No. 9, while Bill Lunde was No. 10. Charley Hoffman finished 21st and Chris Berry was 23rd.
Bryce Molder of Georgia Tech finished ranked first, while his teammate Matt Kuchar was ranked second.
UNLV was the only team with more than two players ranked in the top 25, while all four Rebels ranked made it in.
