UNLV Golf Retains No. 1 Spot in Latest Rankings

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV golf team remained the nation's top team in the latest edition of the national MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings released by the College Golf Foundation Wednesday.

The Rebels, who have won three of five tournaments this spring and a school-record five for the season, are in first place ahead of Arizona, Georgia Tech, Clemson and Houston.

The Western Athletic Conference had five teams ranked among the top 25. After UNLV came TCU in sixth, Colorado State in 16th, Brigham Young in 19th and New Mexico in 23rd. Individually, UNLV's Jeremy Anderson remained second, a school-record high. Arizona's Rory Sabbatini occupies the top spot.

Other Rebels ranked were Bill Lunde in 13th, Charley Hoffman in 25th, Chris Berry in 57th and Scott Lander in 79th.

UNLV most recently finished in fourth place at the Cleveland Golf/Morris Williams Intercollegiate in Austin, Texas, and will be back in action Friday-Sunday at the U.S. Collegiate Golf Championship in St. Augustine, Fla.
