Men's Soccer Shuts Out Air Force

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - The UNLV men?s soccer team posted its first shut out of the year, defeating Air Force 1-0 in the first round of the UNM Invitational Friday night.

Sophomore goalie Bojo Ackah (Agoura, CA/Cascade College), in just his third start of the season, turned away 12 Falcon shots and made five saves in the shutout. Ackah has been excellent in the goal this season, posting a 2-1-1 record and leading the team with a 0.91 goals against average.

Andrew Hooker (Victoria, BC, Canada/Mt. Douglas Senior Secondary) scored the match?s only goal on a header from B.J. McNicol (Centerville, UT/Viewmont) in the 57th minute. It was Hooker?s first goal of the year.

The win was the first for UNLV away from Johann Field this season and evens their series record with Air Force at 4-4 with two draws.

The Rebels, who have not completed a tournament sweep in three attempts this year, will try to do so Sunday at 10:30 a.m. PDT against Centenary in the second round of the UNM Invitational.
