Rebel QB Jason Thomas entered the game with just more than four minutes remaining in the second quarter and scored on a 10-yard rushing touchdown just over one minute later. It was his seventh rushing touchdown of the season. He has now run for at least one rushing score in six of his seven games as a collegian.

UNLV senior strong safety Randy Black broke his right hand in the first quarter and did not return.

Jason Thomas found DeJhown Mandley in the third quarter for a 15-yard touchdown. It was the shortest of his nine career touchdown passes.

The 42-23 UNLV victory marked the most points scored by the Rebels since a 55-48 overtime loss to San Jose State on Nov. 22, 1997. It marked the most points in a victory since a 44-42 win over San Diego State on Nov. 16, 1996. UNLV is averaging 38 points a game at home in 2000.

Jeremi Rudolph's 102 yards on 11 carries was the senior's second century-mark game of the season and fourth of his two-year Rebel career.

True freshman walk-on kicker Dillon Pieffer's debut saw him make all six of his extra point attempts. The Rebels made only 16 all of last year.

UNLV's win moved its record to 4-3 overall. It marked the first time the Rebels were over .500 after seven games since being 4-3 in 1994.
