FULLERTON, Calif. - The UNLV men's soccer team lost to Cal State Fullerton on Sunday night 2-1 in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match. The Rebels fall to 8-6-1 on the year and 2-2 in the MPSF. Fullerton moves to 11-4-1 and 5-0-1 in conference play.
The Titans opened the scoring in the 28th minute on the first of two goals by Duncan Oughton knocked in a rebound of Rebel senior keeper Robert Ackah. The match remained 1-0 in favor of the Titans throughout the rest of the first half.
The Titans scored the insurance goal at the 71:06 mark by Oughton for the 2-0 lead. The Rebels adverted the shutout in the last minute of the match when freshman Alex Hernandez fired a shot on a cross pass from junior Tyler Turchi for the goal. The Rebels scored only the second goal allowed in the past six matches against Cal State Fullerton.
UNLV travels to UC Irvine and San Diego State next weekend. Both games have important seeding implications for the Rebels. The Rebels face UCI on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at 1:00 against the Aztecs.
