UNLV HEAD COACH JOHN ROBINSON
ON THE GAME:
"I think our team played hard. Again our defense held the team to one touchdown. That quarterback (UNR) has is great player. I was proud of the way our team played. The unbelievable number of penalties could have been discouraging, but it wasn't. I think the key was the option play in the third quarter. We ran it in the first half to their strong side and ran it to the opposite side in the second half and it was there."
ON NEXT WEEK'S OPPONENT COLORADO STATE:
"We feel good about our chances next week at Colorado State. It is a championship-level game and we haven't been in that kind of environment. I have ultimate respect for Colorado State and we're going to have to really meet that challenge."
SOPHOMORE QUARTERBACK JASON THOMAS
ON THE UNLV RUNNING GAME:
"It is a testament to our offensive line. They really drive guys off the line and that is what coach is preaching, you've got to drive guys into the ground, and that is what they did today. To be a championship team, you have to have a good running game."
ON THE WIN:
"There are a lot of guys who went through a lot of rough years. For us to turn it around now and to have something positive with the city and have something for the fans to be proud of, it is just good for everybody. The whole city can rejoice in this win."
UNR HEAD COACH CHRIS TORMEY
ON THE GAME:
"UNLV is a very good football team. We knew we had to play a great game. We had a good week in practice. My hat is off to UNLV. This is a very painful loss. There are a lot of guys in that locker room in a lot of pain. We'll use it to get stronger"
ON THE RIVALRY IN FIRST YEAR AT UNR:
"This is a very intense rivalry. I'll learn from this game."
ON UNLV QB JASON THOMAS: "Jason Thomas was the difference in the game. He made all the plays. We couldn't tackle him."
