Abram Stopped In Semifinals

Nov. 12, 2000

IRVINE, Calif. - Despite upsetting two ranked players to reach the semifinals, UNLV freshman Agnieszka Abram was denied an appearance in the finals at the 2000 ITA Women's Tennis Regional after falling to Arizona's Michelle Gough, 6-0, 7-6, on the campus of UC Irvine on Sunday.

Abram, of Warsaw, Poland, knocked off two ranked players from Arizona State on Saturday to reach the semifinals of the prestigious fall tournament, but was unable to pull off a third upset over the 63rd-ranked Gough.

Had she reached the finals, Abram would have earned an automatic berth to the ITA nationals next spring.
