LAS VEGAS - Two UNLV singles players and one Rebel doubles team are ranked in the newest Wingspan Collegiate Tennis Rankings, which were released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
In women's singles, freshman Agnieszka Abram went from unranked in the fall all the way to 39th in the nation after posting a 5-3 tournament record that included upsets of three ranked opponents. Abram, a native of Warsaw, Poland, is the highest ranked women's player from the Mountain West Conference.
As a team, the Lady Rebels stand 55th. UNLV will go into the spring season as defending conference champion after the winning the program's first title a year ago.
UNLV also boasts the MWC's highest-ranked men's singles player and doubles team. Nenad Zivkovic is the league's best with a career-high ranking of No. 54 while he and doubles partner Gregor Skorin, who won the ITA Regional held at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in October, are ranked 21st nationally. Zivkovic and Skorin, both seniors from Belgrade, Serbia, were ranked as high as No. 1 in the nation in December of 1998.
The 2000-01 Rebel men were not ranked as a team.
