LAS VEGAS - Former UNLV standout offensive lineman and 1999 NFL starter Lonnie Palelei has been added to the roster of the XFL's Las Vegas Outlaws, the club recently announced.
Palelei had spent the last seven years in the NFL playing for five teams since being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1993. He started 12 games for Philadelphia in 1999 but was cut by the Eagles during training camp this summer. He also made stops blocking for Cleveland/Baltimore, the New York Jets and the Giants.
The native of America Samoa earned first team All-Big West honors at UNLV in 1992. He became the second former Rebel to join the Outlaws, joining wide receiver Todd Floyd, who had spent the past two years starring as part of the NFL's World League. Floyd lettered at UNLV from 1995-97.
