TULSA, Okla. - Playing indoors on a neutral site against the nation's 10th-ranked program meant UNLV never had a chance as the 58th-ranked Rebel men's tennis team was whitewashed by Virginia Commonwealth at the Southern Tennis Courts Saturday.
UNLV won only one set against a lineup that featured three players ranked in the top 26, including two of the top seven.
At the top spot, Vladimir Pavicevic fell to top-ranked Daniel Andersson, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Also, Nenad Zivkovic was swept by seventh-ranked Frank Mosher at the second spot, 6-1, 6-1, and Danny Erez fell to 26th-ranked Jose Sanchez, 6-2, 6-0, at the third position.
VCU also swept doubles play for one team point.
The Rebels fell to 3-5 while the Rams improved to 8-1. UNLV is off until traveling to the HEB Invitational March 3-5 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
