CHANDLER, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team opened its 2026 dual season with a 4-3 win over Wichita State on Saturday at the Chandler Tennis Center.
In singles, All-American
Ilia Snitari, ranked 35
th nationally, continued his torrid play with a victory over Alejandro Jacome, 6-4, 6-3, at the top spot;
Illia Maksymchuk won his match over Ilias Worthington, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 2: and
Michael Kouame fought off Amir Milushev, 6-4, 7-5, on court three.
The Rebels opened the morning by winning both completed doubles matches to forge a 1-0 lead. Maksymchuk and Kouame teamed up for a 6-2 win at the second spot and
Vitaliy Horovoy and
Joel Gibson took their match 7-5 to clinch the point on court three.
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Snitari improved to 13-1 in singles during his sophomore campaign and 21-1 as a Rebel with his straight-set victory.
UP NEXT: UNLV will face Arizona State tomorrow in a neutral-site match in Chandler starting at 9 a.m. PT.
