LAS VEGAS - The 68th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team won the top three singles matches en route to a 6-3 victory over unranked Illinois State at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Saturday.
The Lady Rebels improved to 7-4 and remained perfect at home at 5-0 while the Redbirds fell to 4-6 overall.
At the No. 1 spot, 20th-ranked Katarina Malec breezed past Alesia Mikalayeva, 6-0, 6-4, to improve to 22-5 on the season in singles.
Also winning were Veronica Goude at No. 2, Marianne Bakken at No. 3 and Amy Hadziosmanovic at No. 6.
Needing to win only one doubles point, UNLV took two. The 44th-ranked team of Malec and Bakken won 8-5 at the top spot while Goude and Urska Radanovic won 8-5 at No. 3.
The Lady Rebels host Pennsylvania at 10 a.m. Sunday.
