Women's Tennis Suffers First Home Loss

LAS VEGAS - After splitting singles play, the 68th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team dropped two of three doubles matches and fell to unranked Pennsylvania, 5-4, at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Sunday.

The Lady Rebels dropped to 7-5 and suffered their first home loss in six matches this season.

At the No. 1 spot, 20th-ranked Katarina Malec continued to excel with a 6-2, 6-2, win over Lenka Beranova. Also winning for UNLV were Veronica Goude at No. 2 and Amy Hadziosmanovic at No. 6.

With the score tied at three, the Lady Rebels quickly won the top doubles spot behind the 44th-ranked team of Malec and Marianne Bakken. Penn, however, took the remaining two matches for the victory.

The Lady Rebels next host Oklahoma State Tuesday at 10 a.m.
