Women's Tennis Clipped By OSU

LAS VEGAS - The 68th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team lost two three-set singles matches and fell to Oklahoma State 5-4 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Tuesday.

The Lady Rebels dropped to 7-6 with their second consecutive one-point loss. The Cowgirls, ranked 60th, improved to 4-2.

At the No. 1 spot, 20th-ranked Katarina Malec of UNLV won her 11th match in her last 13 outings to move to 24-5 overall. The senior downed Maria Galoustova 7-6, 6-3. Also winning for the Lady Rebels were Veronica Goude at No. 2 and Amy Hadziosmanovic at No. 6.

With the score tied at three after singles play, OSU quickly won the second doubles spot and then won at No. 3 to clinch to overall victory. However, at the top spot, Malec and Bakken, who make up the nation's 44th-ranked team, upset 29th-ranked Galoustova and Ashleigh Dolman, 8-3, to move to 14-3.

The Lady Rebels next host Bowling Green, Friday at 10 a.m.
