LAS VEGAS - The 71st-ranked UNLV women's tennis team lost 5-4 for the third time in its last four matches, this time to No. 45 Tulsa at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Saturday.
The Lady Rebels fell to 8-7 while the Golden Hurricane improved to 8-5.
At the No. 1 spot, 41st-ranked Katarina Malec of UNLV won her sixth straight, 6-3, 6-3, over Monica Poveda to move to 26-5 overall.
Tulsa, however, took all five remaining singles points to clinch the match despite a sweep of doubles by UNLV.
The 36th-ranked team of Malec and Bakken won at the top spot to move to 16-3 this season. Michaela Gabl and Amy Hadziosmanovic won at N0. 2 and Veronica Goude teamed with Marianne Bakken for the win at No. 3.
UNLV next hosts Boston College, Sunday at 10 a.m.
