UNLV Opens Outdoor Track Season At Stanford

PALO ALTO, Calif. - The UNLV women's track and field team opened its 2000 outdoor season at the Stanford Invitational this weekend, a meet featuring more than 20 collegiate teams.

Senior sprinter Ayanna Hutchinson picked up where she left off during the indoor season. She captured two third-place finishes, running a career-best 11.57 in the 100 meters and clocking 23.97 in the 200. Both times place her already on the bubble of an NCAA provisional qualifying time.

Three other Rebels placed in the 200 meters. Chantel Yates finished 12th in 25.35, Erin Dangerfield finished 21st in 25.78 and Heather Steadham came in 37th in 26.75.

UNLV has two weeks to prepare for its only home competition of the year. The UNLV Invitational is scheduled for April 7-8 at Myron Partridge Stadium and Sheila Tarr Smith Field.
