Storyline: The UNLV track and field team will compete in the Cal-Nevada State Collegiate Championships on Saturday, April 29-Sunday, April 30 at Edwards Stadium and Goldman Field in Berkeley, Calif. Events will begin at 8:00 a.m. PDT both days. UNLV finished seventh at last year's Cal-Nevada Championships with 54 points. UCLA won the event handily with 198 points.

Last Time Out: UNLV went to California to compete in both the Mt. SAC Relays and the Long Beach Invitational. Jenni Nelson and Chantel Yates became the Rebels' latest NCAA provisional qualifiers in the 10,000 meters and heptathlon, respectively. Nelson broke the school record in the 10,000 (34:54.44) and Yates set a new UNLV freshman mark in the haptathlon (5,214). Ayanna Hutchinson improved her time in the 100 meters to 11.28 which ranks fifth in the nation this year. Charlotte McGee again broke her own school record in the pole vault, clearing 11-0. The Rebels also got victories from both the 4X100- and 4X400-meter relay teams.
Nelson Athlete of the Week: After provisionally qualifying in the 10,000 meters and breaking a 15-year-old school record, Jenni Nelson was honored as the McLeodUSA MWC Co-Athlete of the Week.
Up Next: Following this weekend's activities, the team is slated to compete at the Steve Scott Invitational in Irvine, Calif., on Sunday, May 7.
