Jan. 10, 2001

LAS VEGAS - UNLV running back Kevin Brown will appear in Saturday's East-West Shrine Game, which will be broadcast live on ESPN.

Brown, who finished his Rebel career by rushing for 78 yards in UNLV's 31-14 victory over Arkansas in Las Vegas Bowl IX on Dec. 21, rolled up 788 yards during the regular season. An honorable mention All-Mountain West Conference selection, Brown played one year for UNLV after transferring from Washington State.

The 76th Annual Shrine Game, which is college football's oldest all-star event, will be played at 1 p.m. PST in San Francisco's Pac Bell Park. Coaching the West team will be Texas' Mack Brown while the East will be led by Michigan's Lloyd Carr.

Brown is the sixth UNLV player to appear in the Shrine Game but the first since wide receiver Randy Gatewood after the 1994 campaign.

Also on Saturday, UNLV's other tailback, 1,000-yard rusher Jeremi Rudolph, is scheduled to play in the Florida Gridiron Classic, which will be on ESPN2 at 10 a.m. PST.
