Football Season Tickets Go On Sale

Jan. 21, 2001

LAS VEGAS - Season tickets for UNLV football in 2001 go on sale Monday, the school announced. Sideline seating will be $100 and end-zone seats are $50.

Season tickets are available now by calling 895-UNLV. Individual-game tickets will go on sale in August.

The 2001 five-game schedule at Sam Boyd Stadium is perhaps the most attractive in school history with the home opener slated for Sept. 8 vs. Big Ten power Northwestern. The Rebels also will take on defending Mountain West Conference champion Colorado State, traditional league powers BYU and Utah and regional rival San Diego State. The dates of conference games will be released by the league office in the coming weeks.

Last year, the Rebels had a perfect record at home for the first time since 1977 and the team heads into 2001 riding a six-game home winning streak and its first four-game overall winning streak since 1984. At least two media sources have included UNLV in early preseason rankings after a Las Vegas Bowl victory over Arkansas.

"We're encouraging Las Vegas to get on board now because the 2002 schedule looks even better with seven big games at home," UNLV associate athletics director for sports marketing Terry Cottle said. "Fans can guarantee their seat location for the future by buying season tickets right now."

The 2002 home schedule will feature Wisconsin, Kansas, Baylor and Nevada, Reno along with visits from MWC rivals Air Force, Wyoming and New Mexico.
