Men's Golf Finishes 11th At Jerry Pate

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UNLV men's golf team improved one position and finished 11th at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate on Tuesday after a final-round 306 at the Old Overton Club.

The Rebels (296-292-306--894) leapt past Arizona State in the tourney's final round, but still finished 43 strokes behind tourney champ Oklahoma State. Clemson's D.J. Trahan and Oklahoma State's Hunter Mahan shared medallist honors.

Leading UNLV on the day and in the tourney was freshman Ryan Moore (74-68-73--215), who finished tied for 13th at two-over par.

Clark Corbett (70-72-78--220), who was even after two rounds, carded a final-round 78 to slip to 25th place overall.

Rounding out the Rebels' scoring were Calvin Kupeyan (77-75-78--230) in 49th, Brett Foulds (77-77-77--231) in 51st and J.C. Deacon (75-77-80--232) in 53rd.

The Rebels lie idle until mid-February when they head to Hawaii for the Taylor Made Intercollegiate and the John A. Burns Invitational.
