Runnin' Rebels Defeat EA Sports

LAS VEGAS - Lou Kelly led all scorers with 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting as the UNLV Runnin' Rebels defeated the EA Sports West All-Stars 96-68 Saturday night in an exhibition game at the Thomas & Mack Center.

UNLV, in its first game under new head coach Charlie Spoonhour, opened the game 13-3. The Rebels improved their lead to 20 points with a 16-0 run over 5:27 to lead 38-18 with 3:13 left in the first half. UNLV led by as many as 30 points in the second half on its way to victory.

Other Runnin' Rebels in double figures were Chris Richardson with 15 points, Dalron Johnson with 12 and Ernest Turner with 10. Richardson added a game-high 13 rebounds for the double-double.

Jason Crowe led the All-Stars with 13 points.

UNLV shot 59.4 percent, while limiting EA Sports to only 37.7 percent for the game. UNLV out-rebounded EA Sports 47-24 and recorded 24 assists to the All-Stars' 10.

UNLV will be back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 13, as it plays its second and final exhibition game of the season against Global Sports at 7:35 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center.
