MPSF Announces Men's Soccer Championship Tournament Field

WOODLAND, Calif. - The UNLV men's soccer team improved its Mountain Pacific Sports Federation record to 3-3-1 Sunday with a win over New Mexico, to finish fifth in the regular season league standings and receive the No. 5 seed in the 2001 MPSF Men's Soccer Championship to be held Nov. 8-11 at Bulldog Stadium in Fresno, Calif.

In the MPSF Championship first round on Thursday, Nov. 8, the Rebels will meet fourth-seeded San Diego State in Game 2 at 2:30 p.m. Top-seeded Sacramento State faces eighth-seeded New Mexico in Game 1 at noon, while third-seeded Denver meets sixth-seeded San Jose State in Game 3 at 5 p.m.

No. 24 nationally ranked and No. 2 seed Air Force will match up with No. 7 seed and tournament host Fresno State in the final game of the night at 7:30 p.m. The winners of each first round match will advance to the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 9 with the championship game slated for Sunday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m.
