LAS VEGAS - Constance Jinks scored 27 points in front of a season-high 2,148 fans as the UNLV women's basketball team overcame a 14-point deficit to knock off Wyoming, 69-61, at the Thomas & Mack Center on Saturday.
The Lady Rebels (14-5, 4-3) ended the first half with a 13-4 run to cut the Cowgirls' (9-11, 1-6) lead to five at halftime. UNLV reeled off another 15-3 run to start the second half and eventually opened up a nine-point advantage. Wyoming battled back to tie the game at 56 with 5:43 to play before the Rebels made four straight free throws and pulled away.
The 2,148 fans were the most to watch a Lady Rebel home game since 2,200 fans watched UNLV host UC Irvine in the 1989-90 home finale. It was only the fifth time in school history that more than 2,000 people attended a home game.
Jinks was one of three players in double figures as UNLV improved to a perfect 10-0 on Saturdays this season. Kinesha Davis hit double digits for the third straight game, scoring 14 points and grabbing a game-high eight rebounds. Linda Fr?hlich added 13 points and seven boards.
UNLV retains its hold on fourth place in the Mountain West Conference standings. It trails both Colorado State and New Mexico, both at 5-2 in the league, by a single game for second place and MWC leader Utah by three games.
The Rebels return to the road next week for a pair of MWC games. They face BYU (12-8, 4-3) on Thursday, Feb. 8, in Provo, Utah, and tackle Utah (18-2, 7-0) on Saturday, Feb. 10, in Salt Lake City.
