Women's Tennis Stops Weber State

LAS VEGAS - The 63rd-ranked UNLV women's tennis team used the strength of the top half of its singles lineup to down unranked Weber State 5-2 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Friday.

The Lady Rebels won their first match of the season to improve to 1-2 while the Wildcats, who were without the services of their top player, fell to 1-1.

UNLV began the day by taking two of three doubles matches for one team point. Winning their singles matches for the Lady Rebels - all in straight sets -- were Pauline Janus at the top spot, Agniezska Abram at No. 2, Marianne Bakken at No. 3 and Amy Hadziosmanovic, who won after her opponent retired while trailing in the second set at the fifth position.

WSU will face New Mexico State in Las Vegas on Saturday while UNLV will take on the Aggies on Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.
