Feb. 9, 2001

LAS VEGAS - The 67th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team won only one singles match en route to a 6-1 loss to 43rd-ranked Florida International at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Friday.

Not affected by the cold and windy conditions, the South Florida-based Golden Panthers swept doubles play for one team point. In singles, FIU won the top two matches in tight fashion. Anneliese Rose, ranked 71st, slipped by Paulina Janus, 7-6, 7-6, at the top spot and Mariana Faustinelli upset 39th-ranked Agnieszka Abram, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 at No. 2.

UNLV scored its only point when Urska Radanovic won her match at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-4 over Mari Toro.

The Lady Rebels, who fell to 2-3 on the year, will host Washington State Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.
