Men's Tennis Finishes Fourth

March 11, 2001

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The 73rd-ranked UNLV men lost its second straight match and took fourth place at the HEB Tennis Classic Sunday.

The Rebels were defeated 4-1 by No. 34 Middle Tennessee in the event's third-place match. UNLV fell to 5-4 overall while the Red Raiders improved to 9-3.

Middle Tennessee began the day by winning both completed doubles matches to earn one team point. After waiting out a nearly three-hour rain delay, the Red Raiders were able to win three of four completed singles matches to clinch the victory.

UNLV's only win came at the second singles position where Thomas Schneiter upset No. 49 Robert Gustafsson 6-4, 6-3.

The Rebels continue their spring break trip by playing in the Blue-Gray Classic Thursday through Sunday in Montgomery, Ala.
