Stanford Rolls Over Women's Tennis

LAS VEGAS - Stanford, the nation's top-ranked women's tennis team, only lost one set en route to a 7-0 shutout of No. 60 UNLV at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Wednesday.

The Lady Rebels fell to 4-8 while the Cardinal, which boasts six ranked players, improved to 16-0.

Stanford opened the day by sweeping three doubles matches for one team point. In singles play, top-ranked Laura Granville fell behind UNLV's Paulina Janus 4-2 in the opening set before winning the final 10 games to win 6-4, 6-0. The only Lady Rebel to win even a set was Marianne Bakken at the third position, who ultimately fell to 11th-ranked Gabriela Lastra, 6-3, 3-6, 6-0.

Stanford stays in town to face No. 36 BYU on Thursday while UNLV will take on Utah Friday and the Cougars Sunday.
