LAS VEGAS - The 60th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team opened its Mountain West Conference schedule with a 6-1 victory over unranked Utah at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Friday.
The Lady Rebels improved to 5-8 overall and 3-7 at home while the Utes fell to 4-9.
UNLV began the day by taking two of three doubles matches for one team point. In singles play, the top five Lady Rebels earned victories - all but one in straight sets. Winning for UNLV were Paulina Janus, Agnieszka Abram, Marianne Bakken, Urska Radanovic and Britta Gabl.
UNLV hosts No. 36 BYU Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
