Storyline: The UNLV track and field team continues its 2001 outdoor season on Saturday, March 31 at one of the nation's largest track meets, the Stanford Invitational. The meet will begin at 9:00 a.m. on both Saturday, March 31 and Sunday, April 1, at the Cobb Track and Angell Field in Palo Alto, Calif. More than 5,000 high school, collegiate, and Olympic athletes from across the country are expected to compete. Among the NCAA schools competing, Stanford, Washington, Michigan, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Purdue, Missouri, LSU, Colorado State, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Kansas State, Tulane, BYU, Georgetown will join UNLV.

UNLV: UNLV opened its outdoor season on March 16th at home, hosting the UNLV Open. Tiffany Smith stole the show with wins and career-best marks in both the long jump and triple jump. Fellow Rebel Katie Barto topped a competitive field the 1,500 meters, and Tianika Sharrieff led a 1-2 finish in the high jump. The Rebels also got wins from Charlotte Covington in the pole vault and from its 4X400 relay team.

Up Next: Following the Stanford Invitational, UNLV returns home for the UNLV Invitational. The meet will be held on Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7th at Myron Partridge Track and Sheila Tarr Smith Field.
