FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - UNLV junior sprinter Michele Davis finished third in her heat and 13th overall in the 200 meters at the 2001 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Randal Tyson Track Center on Friday.

Davis clocked a 23.87 in the race, almost 0.3 seconds slower than her best time this season.

Only the top eight athletes by time advance from the preliminaries to the finals. Clemson's Cydonie Mothersill won the race in 22.89.

The event concludes the 2001 indoor season for UNLV, who will begin the outdoor campaign next Saturday, March 17 against Texas and Idaho at the Myron Partridge Track and Sheila Tarr Smith Field in Las Vegas.
