Rebels Roll At Long Beach Invite

LONG BEACH, Calif. - In a busy weekend for the UNLV track and field team, the Rebels sent a split squad to compete at the Long Beach Invitational on Saturday.

Highlighting the Long Beach stint of the weekend for the Rebels were Jennifer Gardner and Nickeisha Charles. Both managed third-place finishes in their respective events. Gardner who took third in the javelin with a toss of 130-01 while Charles ran 56.38 in the 400 meters.

Freshmen Christine Spence and Cherokee Osborne also turned in noteworthy performances. Spence won her heat in the 200 meters and finished seventh by time in 25.51 while Osborne finished second in her heat and sixth overall in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking 1:03.34.

The Rebels return to southern California this weekend to participate in the Cal-Nevada Championships on Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29 in Irvine, Calif.
