STORYLINE: The UNLV men's golf team plays host to fifteen of the nation's best squads this week at the Las Vegas Collegiate. The three-day, 54-hole competition begins on Friday, March 8 at Southern Highlands Golf Course and lasts until Sunday, March 10, with 18 holes to be played each day. Tee times will begin at 8:00 a.m. daily, but Thursday's practice round begins at 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start. Admission is free and credentials are not required.

ABOUT UNLV: The Rebels head into their home event fresh off their best performance of the year, a fourth-place showing at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate. Senior Clark Corbett led the squad with a five-under par 211 to finish fifth individually, and freshman Ryan Moore added a second top-20 effort, placing 12th.

THE FIELD: The Las Vegas Collegiate features 10 teams ranked in the latest GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll, including four of the top five. Defending champ Georgia Tech, the nation's top-ranked squad, headlines the returning clubs. UNLV hosts: Alabama, Air Force, Arizona, Arizona State, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Houston, Kent State, New Mexico, North Carolina State, Ohio State, Oklahoma State and TCU. Additionally, individual players from Arizona State, New Mexico and UNLV will compete unattached.

THE LINEUP: UNLV's lineup for the Las Vegas Collegiate will be Brandon Askew, Clark Corbett, J.C. Deacon, Brett Foulds and Ryan Moore. Brien Davis and Calvin Kupeyan will compete as individuals.

THE LVC: The Las Vegas Collegiate has weathered two name changes, numerous venues shifts and a wide variety of participants in its 28-year history. Arizona State has enjoyed the most success since the tourney began in 1974, boasting seven team titles and seven individual medalists, including 2001 winner Jeff Quinney. Top-ranked Georgia Tech captured last year's team crown. Five times has UNLV won its home event, but only once did the Rebels claim an individual champ -- Chad Campbell in 1996.

HEAD COACH DWAINE KNIGHT: UNLV men's golf head coach Dwaine Knight is in his 15th season as the Rebels' skipper. During his tenure, UNLV has been a perennial power with five league championships, 12 NCAA Championship appearances, and the 1998 national title. The only coach in the country to twice claim GCAA National Coach of the Year honors in the 1990s (1991 and 1998), Knight has produced 15 All-Americans and sent four players to the PGA Tour (Jeremy Anderson, Chad Campbell, Ed Fryatt, Chris Riley).
